Kanye West is probably feeling a little disappointed after being blocked from
selling Jesus Is King merchandise in Jamaica. The Gold Digger rapper
performed a special Sunday Service on Saturday this weekend to promote the
elusive release of his next album Jesus Is King. To celebrate his surprise
visit to the Caribbean island, Kanye launched some high-priced new pieces of
merchandise on his official online store.
Kanye West Announces Friday Release for ‘Jesus Is King’ Album
Kanye West took to Twitter early Monday morning to announce the revised release date for his upcoming album, Jesus Is King. The album, along with an accompanying IMAX film of the same name, will drop on Friday, Oct. 25. The announcement comes after nearly a month of anticipation. West initially said Jesus Is King would be released on Sept. 27, but seemingly decided to postpone. In the weekend that followed, he hosted three listening parties and gave two public “Sunday Service” performances.
The lead-up to the album began in August when West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, tweeted a photo of what appeared to be a track list of religious-themed songs. The list features songs such as “Baptized,” “Sunday,” and “Sweet Jesus.” An IMAX press release for the documentary offers a few more details about the project: “Filmed in the summer of 2019, Jesus Is King brings Kanye West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in the Painted Desert.”
West began hosting his pseudo-religious gospel concerts in January, and has since opened up his performances to the public and offered pricey Sunday Service merchandise.
Kanye West has a new release date for Jesus Is King. This time, he’s tweeted that it’s out on October 25. He tweeted the news with the below image of the album on vinyl. It’s due the same day that an accompanying documentary film is coming to IMAX theaters.
Jesus Is King was originally announced for a September 27 release by Kim Kardashian West, which was later pushed to September 29. It never arrived. The weekend when it was expected to drop, Kanye held Sunday Service events and hosted listening parties for the album. He’s since held Sunday Service events every week in locations around the world.
Last year, Kanye released ye and, with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. He has another album, Yandhi, that remains indefinitely postponed. He’s said he plans to release gospel music exclusively from now on.

These include a crew neck jumper with the Jamaican flag for $200 (£154), a cap with City of Kingston on the front for $40 (£31) and a t-shirt with the Jamaican seal for $50 (£39). However, there appears to have been an issue with the crew neck jumper with the flag as it’s no longer available on the website. It’s possible that the item has also sold out.

Kanye West Announces New Album Jesus Is King Will Be Released Oct. 25
Kanye West just confirmed the latest rumored release date for Jesus Is King, promising fans the long-awaited album will come out Oct. 25.
“JESUS IS KING OCT 25th,” the rapper tweeted, along with an image of a blue vinyl record stamped with his name and the album title.
After missing its promised debut date of Sept. 27, West told fans at the Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience event at George Washington University on Oct. 12 that the album would come out Oct. 25, according to Forbes.
West reportedly told the audience that the album was delayed because he was “making it better for y’all.”
West’s IMAX movie, also titled Jesus Is King, is scheduled for release the same day. The film promises to bring his famous Sunday Service to theatergoers.

However, the recent spate of delays has drawn comparisons to previous canceled, shelved and delayed projects in West’s archives.

Taking to Twitter October 21, Kanye has promised that the project will finally drop this Friday, October 25.That’s the same day the Jesus Is King documentary is due to arrive at IMAX theatres.
Jamaica’s minister of culture, gender, entertainment and sport, Honorable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, shared a statement on Instagram that Kanye, 42, and his team had been selling the Jamaican-branded merchandise without permission and has now banned sales of some of the items. The statement read: ‘It has come to my attention that items of clothing printed with national symbols and emblems are being offered for sale online.

Kanye West Drops ‘Jesus Is King’ Merch for Sunday Service in Kingston, Jamaica
Following the official Jesus Is King merch releases for New York City and Detroit, Kanye West has delivered on an array of new city-specific march for his recent Sunday Service installment and album listening session in Kingston, Jamaica. The two-hour-long gospel service saw West bring out his 120-person choir to Emancipation Park, once again making the event free and open to the public. Throughout the performance, the various choir members, as well as Ye, were seen wearing “City of Kingston” themed Jesus Is King merch, which the prophetic artist-meets-entrepreneur later released via his online shop.
Within the latest drop, which utilizes Yeezy garments as the base, various mock neck T-shirts and long sleeves, crewnecks, and a hat are showcased. Various pieces incorporate Kingston’s logo, with others bearing government logos such as the nation’s national hummingbird and Jamaica’s coat of arms. Some critics, such as Jamaican native Deika Morrison, were quick to point out that Ye had utilized these in an effort to profit off the narrative, equally violating the government’s protocols in regards to the use of the various logos for such purposes. Kingston’s mayor also took to Twitter to clarify some of the concerns that were raised.
